THE PIE CHRONICLES... The Finale 

When I mentioned to my mother my idea of starting a business making savoury pies for people she was ecstatic, my mother who never understood why I did anything else in my life such as study Russian literature, read poetry, become a Junior Ranger, start a rock collection, apply to Rotary Exchange programs, enter bicycle races in snowstorms, leave home at 17, etc. Finally I was participating in an activity which to her made sense: cook something, feed people, stuff them silly and give them pleasure through the most basic enjoyment of a home cooked meal.

So, as a Motto or directive or mantra or ya, ya or whatever you want to call it, from my mom, I am doing as she instructed me in her last letter from home, written in her broken English or broken German, depending on which part of the sentence you are reading.

Make good pie und Mach Mony.

Therefore, in the spirit of Rosina, let’s all eat and enjoy as much good food as possible and share it with as many people as we can.
